Bulimba, Hawthorne, Balmoral, and Morningside businesses (storefront / brick & mortar, and home-based) are invited to celebrate spring, and strengthen new friendships to support business growth, and destination spark.
Congratulations to Oxford 152 on the stunning transformation unveiled earlier this year – a $1.7+ million refurbishment that breathes new life into one of our precinct’s most iconic venues.
As Bulimba’s only pub and one of Oxford Street Bulimba and beyond’s longest-standing establishments, Oxford 152 holds a special place in the heart of our community. With roots tracing back to 1888 – when the original Bulimba Hotel (later called the Balmoral) was built on this site – this venue has long been a gathering place for locals and visitors, from waterside workers and fishermen, to the everyday individuals and families, that make up our vibrant precinct.
In April 2025, the team at Oxford 152 and ALH Group revealed the revitalised space that beautifully blends the venue’s rich heritage with a fresh, contemporary feel. From a redesigned open-plan bar and bistro, to a brighter, refreshed facade, expanded beer garden, and an upgraded sports-viewing area, every detail has been carefully curated to honour the past while embracing the future.
Inside, patrons are welcomed by terracotta-toned tiles, blonde-timber finishes, chequered carpet runners, and preserved exposed-brick feature walls – all working together to create a space that feels both modern and unmistakably local. The menu, too, has been elevated, bringing new flavours to the table while keeping the relaxed pub spirit alive.
More than just a refurbishment, this is a reimagining of what a local pub should be. Oxford 152 now offers even more polished hospitality with a playful edge – a place where visitors drop in to experience the charm of Oxford Street Bulimba and beyond, where the post-work crowd can unwind, and where locals can come back time and again to make lasting memories.
