Brisbane City Council’s Active Parks program brings free or low-cost fitness and well-being activities to more than 50 neighbourhood parks across the city. Designed for all ages and abilities, the sessions range from high-energy workouts to gentle movement classes, ensuring everyone can find an option that suits their fitness level and goals. By joining these community-focused activities, residents can boost their health, meet new people and enjoy the benefits of exercise in their own local green spaces.
Covering more than 50 hectares just 15 minutes southeast of Brisbane’s CBD, Seven Hills Bushland Reserve showcases open eucalypt forest interwoven with dry rainforest species and stands of paperbark along Perrin Creek and in its moist gullies. The understorey bursts with wildflowers and grass trees, creating a vibrant setting for bushwalking, nature study and panoramic views. Visitors can access the extensive network of walking tracks via Latina Avenue, D’Arcy Road or Richmond Road in Seven Hills.
Bulimba Library sits at 219 Oxford Street Bulimba, and serves as a vibrant community hub offering print and digital collections, public computers, photocopying, scanning, free Wi-Fi and an after-hours returns chute. You can contact the library on (07) 3407 8223. The library opens Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, Wednesday from 1 pm to 8 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm, and is closed on Mondays, Sundays and public holidays. Two fully equipped community meeting rooms, one seating up to 35 people and the other up to 12, are available for hire with overhead projection, TV/DVD and whiteboard facilities. On-site parking is provided during opening hours but the gate is locked after hours; any vehicles left beyond closing will be secured until the next opening day, and meeting room bookings do not include after-hours car-park access.
